AUTUMN WINTER 2019-20 "CUL-DE SACS"

Carefree bike rides through the suburban streets of Anywhere, USA.  An appropriation of the visual language of a suburban childhood results in an exploration of suburban masculinity. Far from cities in anonymous small town houses, youth engage with the underground from the periphery of American culture.

 

Classic American suburban tropes such as wallpaper and domestic handcraft become mixed and perverted by subcultural themes and a suburban boy's dreams of a far away urban world of boybands, basement parties and fetishism. Loose knits meet straight lines to create a childish and naive energy around masculine dressing.
